TATA Steel CONSTRUCTION SITE

To accommodate the major £1.25 billion transformation at Tata Steel’s Port Talbot site, TCi was contracted to supply and install supporting office & welfare furniture for the large-scale industrial modular buildings, delivering a comprehensive installation across two buildings and three floors. 

The project was delivered in three distinct phases, each completed within an intensive five-day programme. The full scope included transporting all required equipment to the site, completing the installation to specification, and carrying out final operational checks to ensure everything was ready for immediate use.

Large-Scale Office and Welfare Furniture Installation for TATA Steel build

Working within a live construction environment presented several logistical challenges throughout the programme. However, through careful planning, efficient logistics and strong on-site coordination, all stock was successfully delivered and installed on schedule. Each phase was completed by a 9-person installation team, ensuring consistency in quality and delivery across the entire project.

Phase One delivered a modern, open-plan workspace in the first building, designed for daily operations and collaboration. 

TCi delivered and installed 191 fully equipped desks, including electrics, monitor arms, seating and storage pedestals. Meeting facilities included two 20-person meeting rooms and eight 8-person meeting rooms, all with AV, electrics and display screens to support a range of meetings and training.

The floor also featured a wrap-around reception area with a bespoke counter and four privacy pods for focused work. Welfare facilities included 40 cloakroom lockers and a kitchenette area with white goods. The phase was completed within five days.

Delivering phase 2 of the install

Phase 2 created a large-scale welfare space centred around a high-capacity canteen. TCi installed 70 canteen units, seating 304 people at once and supporting up to 1,182 staff across a 12-hour shift rotation.

The floor included 254 wire mesh lockers, with additional provisions for up to 594 personnel. A 70-person induction room was delivered for training and onboarding, alongside soft seating breakout areas.

A fully equipped kitchen with white goods was installed to support operational needs. The phase was completed within five days.

Delivering phase 3 of the install

Phase Three delivered additional office space in the second building, mirroring Phase One. TCi installed 181 desks and chairs with full electrics, seating and storage pedestals.

Breakout areas and four privacy pods were included, alongside extensive meeting facilities: an 80-person boardroom, one 12-person room and two 10-person rooms, all with full AV capability.

Welfare provision included 40 cloakroom lockers alongside a kitchenette area with white goods.

This phase was also completed within five days by a 15-person team, concluding the project programme.

TCi successfully delivered this large-scale, multi-building furniture installation within a demanding 15-day timeframe. In total, the project included over 370 workstations, more than 20 meeting spaces, large-scale canteen facilities, reception and visitor areas, breakout spaces and extensive welfare provisions designed to support a significant workforce.

Through careful planning, experienced installation teams and strong coordination, TCi transformed two large modular buildings into a fully operational workplace and welfare environments. The completed spaces provide modern, flexible and functional environments designed to support collaboration, productivity and employee wellbeing, demonstrating TCi’s capability to deliver complex, high-volume installations within challenging programmes.
