EDF Energy Hinkley Point C site accommodation facility

As tier 1 FF&E contractor to the Somerset nuclear power station site, TCi provides the FF&E (Furniture, Fixings & Equipment)

The recently completed HAN (North facility) is the second of four accommodation blocks to be installed on the site to house the thousands of site operatives and technical staff required for one of Europe’s largest construction projects.

The 50,000sqft modular facility comprises changing room and locker facilities for 800+ operatives, large canteen facility and four open-plan offices, each with 150-170 workstations. Meeting rooms, seminar facilities and breakout areas all form part of the self-contained facility, which is accessed by internal buses serving the site.

  • >600 height-adjustable desks
  • >600 operators’ chairs
  • 382 meeting room chairs
  • >800 wire mesh lockers
  • 60 recycling stations

The furniture scheme was delivered and installed over 8 weeks, overseen by our SMSTS qualified site team with vehicles accessing the site via the HPC freight network. Due to the high volume of activity, access to the site has been planned via strictly managed routes in order to cause minimum disruption to the nearby town of Bridgwater.

Safety is of extremely high importance at HPC, due to the nature of the project and high volumes of personnel on site. As-ever, TCi has adhered to strict safety and security procedures when operating on and off site.

Alex Perkis, Project Director said:

“TCi is proud to have involvement with such a prestigious construction project. Our project team has grown, providing further employment to the local community and we have undertaken further contracts within the development. Working with the vast array of stakeholders to ensure the facilities can be handed over on time requires great teamwork and our supervisors, installers and logistics teams have all done an incredible job”
